Garden Inspiration
During this summer season, I am simply smitten with all things green and growing outside, and constantly drawing inspiration from my garden. Right now, I am crushing hard on one of my current projects: A late-summer garden party. My creative process begins with an idea, a brainstorming session or 10 and a collection of images that inspire me. Beyond that, the next step is always the invitation. I always generate so much of my party concept through creating the invitation design. And this one I am straight up feeling in a big way. It all began with a few clippings from my garden, photographed below.
After an afternoon date with Photoshop, this is the base for the invitation. Fun right? I can't wait to share the final product with you guys!

Baby Shower Gifts
Today's post is all about love for the little ones! This faux chenille blanket and monogram pillow recently left the workroom for a dear friend's baby shower. The light pink and grey color palette was chosen to coordinate with her sweet nursery! I was tickled with how they turned out. :)
The faux chenille is such a sweet look for a nursery and oh my, is it soft! I love making these for shower gifts. They are pretty straight forward to make, but certainly time consuming. I totally think the result is worth the work though. How about you guys?
Happy Tuesday!

Faux Chenille Baby Blanket
So I recently shared with you guys the Charlotte's Web themed baby shower. Well, this is the gift I gave to sweet little Charlotte's mommy at the shower. It is a faux chenille baby blanket with, of course, chevron fabric.
It is a top layer of cotton, with 3 layers of flannel underneath sewn diagonally every .5 inch all the way across the blanket. Then with either a chenille cutter (highly recommended) or scissors you cut through the bottom three layers of flannel in between your stitch lines. After you are done with your cutting, run the blanket through a quick wash and dry cycle to give the flannel a sweet little wave underneath. And finally, sew on your blanket binding around the edges. I followed the tutorial from Aesthetic Nest found here, but made little changes to make it my own.
It was an easy, albeit time consuming, process. But I just love the way it turned out. What do you guys think?

Charlotte's Web Baby Shower
A special little cousin of mine is about to have a special little baby girl. So, of course, we had to throw her a special little baby shower. A Charlotte's Web themed baby shower! We had so much fun creating this and putting it together. I just can't even tell you.
Below are the sweet invitations we sent out. I edited out all of our contact information for obvious reasons, but I just love them!
And then the cake. Just a little strawberry cake from Gabriel's and I threw on some wildflowers, but I loved the end result. Especially the little hen nested nearby. Isn't she great?
We added in some farm animals here and there along with burlap covered books.
And we had to have a Charlotte! I made her with a styrofoam ball, black paint, pipe cleaners and googly eyes and hung her over the buffet table.
Perhaps my favorite detail, was the chalkboard turned spider web. Instead of "Some Pig" as Charlotte says it in the book, we will have us "Some Baby" when our little Charlotte gets here!

Natural Selections: Driftwood
So I know the buzz is all about pallet wood right now, the current love affair of the DIY world. But for me, pallet wood is just that, a love affair. It's like when Zack Morris would start dating someone new... It would be all good and well, but we all knew he would end up with his first, true love, Kelly Kapowski. Well folks, my Kelly Kapowski is driftwood. Though I may venture into the pallet wood trend for a while, and enjoy doing so, I will always come back to my first love, driftwood.
Here are some of my favorite uses for driftwood.
I mean seriously, these people are artists.
Driftwood out.

Rustic Winter
I am really inspired by rustic winter landscapes right now. Too bad 50 degrees is about as "winter" as we are getting in Georgia at the present. No rustic snowy landscapes here, folks. Hence, I sit and wanderlust over these beautiful, albeit digital, scenes. What is inspiring you in the middle of this winter season?
